Hiking trip #1

To the highest peak of the Low Tatras – Mt Ďumbier 2043 m n.m. and back
  • Length of trail: 8,8 km
  • Trip duration: 4 hrs.
  • Level of difficulty: medium difficult

An easy trip along the ridge to the highest peak of the Low Tatras. The summit of Mt Ďumbier offers a round panoramic view of almost all mountain ranges of Central and Northern Slovakia.

Starting point and finish: upper station of the Funitel cable car on Mt Chopok 2,004 m asl

Trail description: Take the red tourist trail past the Kamenná chalet, across Demänovské sedlo (saddle) and Mt Krúpova hoľa to Mt Ďumbier 2,043 m asl, walk back to Mt Chopok along the same trail.

Hiking trip #2

From Mt Chopok across the saddle of Poľany to Tri vody and Biela Púť
  • Length of trail: 9,1 km
  • Duration of trip: 3 hrs. 20 min. to 4 hrs.
  • Level of difficulty: easy

An easy trip along the ridge to Jasná, with beautiful views of the massif of Skalka, Liptovská Mara (dam) and the valleys of the Low Tatras.

Starting point: upper station of the Funitel cable car on Mt Chopok 2,004 m asl

Finish: Biela Púť 1,117 m asl
Trail description: Take the red tourist trail over Mt Dereše to the saddle of Poľany. Turn right at the saddle and follow the yellow tourist trail in the direction of Tri Vody and continue along the yellow trail to Mikulášska chalet, past Vrbické pleso (tarn) to Wellness Hotel Grand Jasná and Biela Púť.

Alternative route 2a: Take the red tourist trail from Tri vody – in the direction of Brhliská and once at the trail intersection of Pod Orlou skalou, change to the blue tourist trail. Follow in the direction of Otupné and along the road to Biela Púť.

Hiking trip #3

From Mt Chopok to Demänovské sedlo (saddle) and across Široká dolina (valley) to Lúčky
  • Length of trail: 9.5 km
  • Duration of trip 3: 3 hrs.
  • Duration of trip 3a: 3 hrs 45 min
  • Level of difficulty: easy

An easy trip across Široká dolina with views of northern gullies of Mt Chopok and Mt Ďumbier.

Starting point: upper station of the Funitel cable car on Mt Chopok 2,004 m asl

Finish: Lúčky, bus stop

Trail description: Take the red tourist trail past the Kamenná chalet along the ridge to Demänovské sedlo (saddle). Turn left there and follow the yellow trail. After about 20 minutes, turn left to change to the green trail and continue across Široká dolina (valley) along the brook of Demänovka to Lúčky.

Alternative route 3a: Over Mt Tanečnica and across the saddle of Javorie: Take the yellow tourist trail from Demänovské sedlo along a side ridge over Mt Tanečnica to the saddle of Javorie. Turn left there, take the red trail, then the green trail and continue to Lúčky (+1 km, 45 min).

Alternatívna trasa: Na Troch vodách odbočiť na červenú značku smer Brhliská a pod Orlou skalou odbočiť na modrú turistickú značku smer Otupné a po ceste pokračovať na Bielu Púť.

Hiking trip #4

Along the main tourist trail from Kosodrevina to the foot of Mt Ďumbier, to Mt Chopok and back
  • Length of trail: 10 km
  • Duration of trip 7: 5 hrs. 30 min
  • Duration of trip 7a: 6 hrs. 10 min.
  • Duration of trip 7b: 6 hrs. 20 min.
  • Level of difficulty: medium difficult

A medium difficult trip with views of the highest peaks of the Low Tatras.

Starting point and finish: Kosodrevina Restaurant, 1,494 m asl

Trail description: Take the blue trail, turn right above Kosodrevina – in the direction of a trail intersection and Krúpove sedlo (saddle), then turn left to change to the red trail and follow it up to the saddle. Turn left there and continue along the red trail to Mt Chopok. Use the yellow trail to get down from Mt Chopok to Kosodrevina.

Alternative routes:
7a: Take a detour from the trail intersection of Krúpove sedlo and walk to the chalet of Gen. M. R. Štefánik (+40 min).
7b: Take a detour from Mt Krúpova hoľa to Mt Ďumbier (+50 min).

Hiking trip #5

From Kosodrevina to Mt Chopok and back
  • Length of trail: 3 km
  • Trip duration: 3 hrs. 30 min.
  • Trip duration: medium difficult

A trip to the second highest peak of the Low Tatras – Mt Chopok. The Kamenná chalet with a restaurant is located just below the summit.

Starting point and finish: Kosodrevina Restaurant 1,494 m asl

Trail description: Walk from the cable car station to a trail above the Kosodrevina restaurant, turn left and follow the yellow tourist trail for about 10 minutes to a trail intersection. Turn right there a walk up along the yellow trail up to Mt Chopok. To return back to Kosodrevina, take the yellow trail.

Hiking trip #6

From Kosodrevina to the chalet of Gen. M. R. Štefánik and the Trangoška chalet
  • Length of trail: 9 km
  • Trip duration: 2 hrs. 40 min.
  • Level of difficulty: easy

An easy trip along the main southern tourist trail with views of the highest peak of the Low Tatras and a stop-by at an alpine chalet.

Starting point: Kosodrevina Restaurant 1494 m n.m.

Finish: Trangoška – car park

Trail description: Walk from the cable car station to a trail above the Kosodrevina restaurant, turn right and follow the blue tourist trail up to the chalet of Gen. M. R. Štefánik. To get to the car park at the Trangoška chalet from there, take the green trail.

From Kosodrevina to Mt Chopok across Príslop, over Mt Dereše and back
  • Length of trail: 6.5 km
  • Trip duration: 4 hrs.
  • Level of difficulty: medium difficult

Starting point and finish Kosodrevina Restaurant 1494 m asl

Trail description: Walk along the trail above the Kosodrevina restaurant, turn left and follow the blue tourist trail to sedlo Príslop (saddle). Once you get there, turn right to change to the yellow trail and start climbing up to the mountain ridge. When on the ridge, turn right and follow the red trail to Mt Chopok. To return back to Kosodrevina, take the yellow trail.

Hiking trip #8

From Kosodrevina to Mt Chopok across Krížske sedlo (saddle) and back
  • Length of trail: 14 km
  • Trip duration: 5 hrs. 30 min.
  • Level of difficulty: difficult

A rather difficult trip with the most beautiful views of the Skalka massif and Vajskovská dolina (valley).

Starting point and finish: Kosodrevina Restaurant, 1,494 m asl

Trail description: Walk along the trail above the Kosodrevina restaurant, turn left and follow the blue tourist trail across southern slopes up to Krížskeho sedlo (saddle). Once in the saddle, turn right to change to the red trail and walk along the mountain ridge up to Mt Chopok. To return back to Kosodrevina, take the yellow trail.

Hiking trip #9

Along a forest path to the Cave of dead bats
  • Length of trail: 8.8 km
  • Trip duration: 2 hrs.
  • Level of difficulty: difficult

Starting point: Kosodrevina, 1,494 m asl

Finish: Jaskyňa mŕtvych netopierov (Cave of Dead Bats), 1,750 m asl

Trail description: Once you disembark the cable car in Kosodrevina, take the blue tourist trail to get to the chalet of Gen. M. R. Štefánik. 700 metres behind the chalet, turn right to change to a yellow marked forest path that runs through a forest along the contour line to the green tourist trail that leads across the valley of Trangoška to the chalet of Gen. M. R. Štefánik. Follow this trail for a while and turn right at the trail intersection – in the direction of Jaskyňa Mŕtvych netopierov (Cave of Dead Bats), which you will see already. Take the same trail to return back to the cable car or walk across the valley of Trangoška. Then continue to the chalet of Gen. M. R. Štefánik or to Mt Ďumbier and along the ridge to Mt Chopok.
